I am very good at misplacing my keys, and often spend minutes in the morning looking for them and thus missing the early bus. I've attached this little jobbie to my keychain, installed the iPhone app, and have had good luck so far in finding the keys. What follows is based on brief experience. I will update if warranted.
Note that I have only tested the device find feature. I dont need or use the alarm that sounds if the device is more than 100 yards or whatever from the phone.
The good: the phone can make the keys sound the alarm and the key device can make the phone ring, so I can find either if I have the other. The alarm is loud enough for me as long as the lost item is on the same floor. The app is simple and the UI clear.
The bad: it uses Bluetooth, so in workplaces where Bluetooth is prohibited the device is useless. Also, If I turn the phone off I have to re-pair with the device. And sometimes the device unpairs itself randomly, which defeats the purpose entirely. It could use a few more settings to customize the experience. Also, to pair a tracker device you have to pull the batteries halfway out and put them back in. This is much much harder than it should be, as the battery holder is flimsy and held in so tightly that you have to pull so hard on it that it pops all the way out...every time.
Would I spend my own money on this? The jury is still out. There appear to be less expensive devices that work better and handle multiple pairings, but none pair with phones or tablets. I like that this uses the iPhone
